Home / Water Systems / Add-ons

Water system add-ons: alkaline filter and whole-home UV.

Two add-ons round out a Happy Tap system: an alkaline filter that adds minerals back to reverse osmosis water for taste, and a whole-home ultraviolet (UV) purifier that disinfects water with light as it enters the house.

Alkaline remineralization filter

Reverse osmosis removes most minerals, which some people find makes water taste flat. An alkaline filter adds calcium and magnesium back so RO water tastes more like spring water. Best for anyone who finds plain RO water flat.

Whole-home UV purifier

Ultraviolet light inactivates bacteria, viruses and protozoa as water passes the lamp, without adding chemicals. The CDC lists UV treatment as effective against all three (CDC). It doesn’t remove chemicals or minerals. Best for well water, or as extra protection on city water.

Good to know

  • UV works best on clear water, so on wells it’s installed after sediment and iron treatment.
  • UV lamps need periodic replacement; we’ll give you the schedule for your unit.
  • Neither add-on softens water.

Most Happy Tap systems fall between $2,950 and $6,950, depending on the setup: city or well water, the size of your home and household, and how much plumbing the install needs. Your quote is one written number before any work starts. Installation is available through licensed Arizona plumbing professionals.
