Home / Water Systems / XL Softener + Filtration

XL whole-home water softener and filtration system.

The XL is the same one-tank softener and carbon filtration design as our Standard system, with 64,000 grains of capacity. It’s built for larger homes, bigger households or very hard water, so it regenerates less often.

XL Softener + Filtration: quick answers

How is the XL different from the Standard?

More softening capacity: 64,000 grains instead of 48,000. The valve, carbon and design are the same.

Extra capacity means longer runs between regenerations, which saves salt and water in high-use homes.

Who needs the XL?

Homes with four or more bathrooms, larger households, or water at the hard end of the Valley range.

Scottsdale reports up to about 17 grains per gallon and Phoenix up to 17.6. At those levels, a busy household can push a 48,000-grain system into frequent regeneration.

Is bigger always better?

No. An oversized softener can regenerate too rarely, so we size it to your test results and household.

That’s why we test first.

Who it’s for

  • Homes with four or more bathrooms
  • Larger households
  • Very hard water where a 48,000-grain system would regenerate too often

What it won’t do

  • It doesn’t purify drinking water. Add reverse osmosis for that.
  • It doesn’t remove dissolved solids, nitrate or arsenic.
  • It still needs salt.

Certified components

  • Control valve: certified to NSF/ANSI 44
  • Fiberglass mineral tank (Enpress): certified to NSF/ANSI 44 and 61
  • Coconut shell carbon (Jacobi): certified to NSF/ANSI 61
  • Softening resin: ResinTech CG10, 10% crosslinked

These are certifications of individual components for material safety and softener performance. They are not a contaminant-reduction certification for the complete system.

Frequently asked questions

Does the XL use more salt?

Not necessarily. It regenerates less often, and the valve only regenerates based on metered use.

Does the XL reduce water pressure?

It’s rated for 27 gallons per minute of service flow at a 15 psi pressure drop, which covers typical household demand.

Can I upgrade from Standard to XL later?

Ask us. It’s usually easier to size correctly up front, which is what the free water test is for.

Not sure which one fits?

We test your water at your sink, explain the numbers, and size the system to your home. Free, and no pressure.
